Piers Burton-Page becomes Hon President

Piers Burton-Page

We are very pleased to announce that Piers Burton-Page has agreed to become Hon President of the Society.

Piers has done an enormous amount over the years to promote the music of Malcolm Arnold. In 1994 he published Philharmonic Concerto, the first biography of Sir Malcolm. He has been a regular contributor to events and programmes celebrating Arnold, and has contributed several articles to Beckus and Maestro.

Piers was educated at Harrow and Wadham College, Oxford, and spent a year doing research on the music of Shostakovich before joining the BBC in 1971. This was the beginning of a career of over 30 years, working mostly for BBC Radio 3 as a producer and presenter. His particular interests are opera and modern British music. He is also a cricket fan and enjoys studying foreign languages.

Welcome, Piers!
