Julian Bream has told us of the exciting news that you are writing a Concerto for him and eight instruments. Do you think that the work would be ready, and would you be inclined to let us do the first performance of it at this coming Aldeburgh Festival in June? Julian may have men- tioned this to you as a possibility as he will be playing here, and certainly likes the idea of launching the work here. I can hardly say how happy and honoured we should be if you would agree to this.
